Fleetwood Food, Fish and Music Festival

Fleetwood, the historic Lancashire coastal town known for its proud maritime and fishing heritage, is launching an exciting new free flagship event: Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival.

Presented by Wyre Council, this brand-new three-day summer festival celebrates Fleetwood’s coastal identity—honouring its fishing past while showcasing the people, businesses and traditions that continue to sustain the town today. In partnership with Fleetwood Market, the town centre will be buzzing with activity, reinforcing its role as the heart of the community.

With a vibrant, family-friendly programme, the festival aims to attract visitors, to help celebrate everything Fleetwood, and make a cultural experience to remember!

Friday 14 August

Official opening day

Activities and entertainment from 10am to 6pm

10am – Official Festival Opening by the Mayor

10:30am–11:30am – Fish King & Fish Queen Competition

11:30am–12:00pm – Crowning ceremony and photos

CJ Jackson Seafood Theatre performances throughout the day between 11am and 4pm

Coastal Radio broadcasting live from the event from 2pm to 6pm

Plus all day – funfair, continental market, heritage stalls, fresh fish and market stalls

Sunday 16 August

Festival finale

Activities and entertainment from 10am to 6pm

The Deadbeats Live on the Main Stage, appearances between 11am and 4pm with live DJ between sets

Des Songsmith on the Songsmith Stage at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm

Joined by local talent Lucas Williams, performing live on the Songsmith Stage at 1:30pm

4pm onwards – Closing Celebrations

Plus all day – funfair, continental market, heritage stalls, fresh fish and market stalls

The Fish Queen Competition

Could your child be Fleetwood’s next Fish Queen or Fish King?

We're inviting children to get creative and dress up in their best sea-themed costumes. From sparkling mermaids and adventurous mermen to colourful fish, crabs and other ocean-inspired creations!

The winning Fish Queen and Fish King will be crowned during a special ceremony on Friday 14 August from 10:30am to 12pm, with costumes judged by the Mayor. The best costumes will win £100 in Fleetwood Market vouchers, and every entrant will take home a special keepsake.

This competition celebrates one of Fleetwood’s most iconic traditions. Dating back to 1934, the Fish Queen played an important role in representing the town and its rich fishing heritage. It's a wonderful opportunity for a new generation to connect with a proud part of Fleetwood’s history.

Visit Fleetwood Museum during the festival to see the original Fish Queen crown and costume and discover the story behind this much-loved local tradition.
